A Slight Scare

This morning my daughter was standing in the kitchen when she said "ow!". She told me she had a pain in the back of her head. At the time, she looked fine and went about eating her breakfast. While she was rinsing her dishes, she started to feel woozy and decided to get some water [this she told me later].

The next thing I know, I heard her cup hit the kitchen floor. When I looked through the open arch-wall between the family room and kitchen, I could not see her (which I should have been able to). I asked what happened and went straight into the kitchen and saw her sitting on the floor, leaning up against the island.

Her face was 2 shades paler than the rest of her body and she briefly rubbed her hands on her face, then she slumped over. Immediately I grabbed her, called her name a dozen times, patted her cheeks - all with no response. I could tell my son was scared, so I sent him to get a pillow for her head and then sent him to get his father.

I kept calling her name and told her to lay down, told her to open her eyes while I placed the pillow under her head. She finally opened her eyes and I made her focus on me, to look at me and talk. She said it was weird, that pain she had, then she felt like you sometimes do when you stand up too quickly - only she hadn't.

As her color started to come back to her cheeks, we moved her to the couch where she rested for a couple of hours. As time went on, she got to feeling better and better. So much so, that by this evening, you would never have known anything was wrong this morning.

Tomorrow I will be scheduling her a doctor appointment - one that she needed anyway before school starts to get her 7th grade immunizations.

Random Animation

My children created this film, all by themselves. Needless to say, their father and I were laughing as we heard them rehearsing their lines. Enjoy!

Friday Photo: Burning Rubber

Before anyone goes off the deep end - no, my 14 year old son did not drive the motorcycle.

He decided to sit on my brother-in-law's bike while we gathered under the carport last Saturday. Everyone thought it would make a great picture so I grabbed my sister's camera and shot some photos. Although I don't believe him to be the type to ever own a motorcycle, he looks quite at home sitting on it.

My niece likes to (often) remind me of how many months until this boy can get his restricted driver's license... I am so not ready for that!
